What a weekend for us.  On Friday my boss was nice enough to let me off work at 2, so I was able to go home and get my training in for the day which was awesome.  Then my family came down to watch Luke at his baseball tournament and hung out at my house in between the games.  Chase & I had a free dinner to use at Noodle’s & Co because of our Saturday morning 10K race, so after we grabbed some grub we headed off to the ball park.  Luke is such a good little baseball player, it’s no wonder that his team does so well in the play-offs every year.  Friday night the whole crew (minus Tay) slept at our house which was a crazy circus, but I loved it!  It was fun to have them come see my home again and to spend some time with them outside of the bubble of Cache Valley.

Saturday morning came fast and at 7:30 Chase and I were off to our race in Orem.  It was 6.2 miles and I thought I was going to do pretty well because of how much I’ve been training.  My goal was to finish it within an hour, which I did!  But I was pretty onry and grumpy so the actual race wasn’t very fun, especially for Chase.  The poor guy had to spend an hour running with me as I complained and told him to stop talking to me and getting mad at him for trying to make me go faster.  Geez, I am a mean person sometimes.  Anyway after the race, we made some waffles at home and babysat the Barrand kids.  They are so adorable and cute.  I love watching them, especially how cute they interact with and love Baxter.  However, after a few hours of watching these energetic kids I realized how unready I am to be a mother.  I am not ready for that kind of energy level all the time.  I quite enjoy my quiet nights and clean home.  :)   maybe someday though.

We hit up another one of Luke’s games after the Barrands picked up their children and then headed off on a great adventure to IKEA.  I love that store.  I mean I REALLY love that store.  We bought some more bookcases (for those of you who haven’t seen our library, you’d think Chase already had enough books when we got married, but we’ve added FOUR more bookcases since then and they are all full of books), another dressar to keep our closet more manageable, some more shelving units to complete my food storage closet (YAY), and a whole bunch of other doodads, including their yummy cinnamon rolls.  We brought it all home, started setting it up, made some Asian dinner and watched a Chinese film for Chase’s chinese class.  We stayed up way too late that night putting together our furniture and still didn’t finish.

Sunday morning we went to church and came home hoping to finish all of these projects.  However, I have a goal to try a few new recipes each week and so most of my time was spent making my first pumpkin pie.  It turned out pretty good, I think I would’ve cooked it a little longer though.  But at least we know I can do it right!  So with me cooking and Chase finishing up some work, we were swamped and didn’t get anything done on the house.  We went to Chad and Bethany’s house for Sunday dinner which was incredible.  Chad made chicken kabobs that had so many terrific spices on them and served them with a yogurt sauce.  He is a great cook.  We enjoyed our family for a bit and then came home thinking we would work on the house.  But we didn’t.  I swear my house looks like one big laundry pile.  There are things everywhere which is so not me.  I’ve been going crazy with the dirtiness of it.

Monday I tried to get to it again, but by the time Chase & I had run our errands, purchased new running shoes for our marathons, changed his tires and completed our 10 mile run, it was about 5 at night.  I was onry again all day and am pretty sure that Chase will never want to go on any runs with me ever again (or at least until I stop yelling at him for trying to make me push myself harder and faster).  So when we got home, Chase headed for the hot tub and I tried to make the peace by giving him a back rub while he sat in there.   I think that our tiredness really kicked in because that night we fell asleep at 8:30 for the night.  I was so tired but really regretted not picking up my house.

Tuesday was work again, but I was feeling pretty sick.  I think it had something to do with drinking some of the water out of the Orem City Canal while Chase & I did our run.  Crossing my fingers that I don’t get any parasite or anything.  But right after work I headed up to meet my little sister Taylor in Salt Lake for the Taylor Swift concert.  We ate at California Pizza Kitchen and shopped at the Gateway to pass some time and then headed to the Delta Center.  Swift was actually fantastic in concert and I was glad that I went, even though it is country music.  Me and Tay had a great time.  But I didn’t get home until 11:15 so I had no time to work on my house at all.  Jeez it’s been like 5 days!!!  I need to make the time for this crap.  But I came home from the concert to find my incredible and amazing husband cleaning up everything.  The dishes were done, the garbage taken out, his tools picked up, our clothes put away in the closet with the new shelves that he put up, the office organized mostly and a clean doggie.  Isn’t he the best??  I couldn’t have dreamed up a better husband than him.  I love you Chase!

But today is Wednesday and although my home is looking a lot better it isn’t completely finished yet (thanks to my OCD taking over my life making it impossible to not have everything in perfect order).  I have been at work all day and am hosting a team meeting for the Ragnar Race tonight at 6 so I’m kind of swamped again today.  Hopefully I can fit in at least an hour of cleaning right???

Yikes, does life ever slow down?  Is there ever a day when you can’t think of anything to do?  Can I just be a little kid again?  Or, if those are impossible things, can BYU at least give us a spring break to catch up on life?!

If you can’t tell, it’s been a busy year and I am looking forward to the few vacations we have in July to get away from it all and get all of my projects caught up.  Hope everyone had a relaxing memorial day for me!  :)

Lukie’s Birthday

I just wanted to give a shout-out to my lil brother Luke!  It is his birthday today and he is now 13 years old!  Holy crap, he’s a teen.  And not only is he a teen, but he is the best little brother ever.  He is so smart and funny and the combination of the two make for a killer personality.  Anyone who knows Lukie can agree that he is the best.

Luke,  hope you have a good one!  I love you!

By the way, this is the only pic I could find of him, just ignore my sister Taylor :)

This past weekend, Chase and I celebrated our first anniversary.  It is crazy that we have already been married for a whole year!  There has been so much that has happened.  We drove to Park City, grabbed some sushi, hiked to the top of the Olympic Park (haha) and on Sunday we shopped, shopped, shopped!  It was so fun to get away from Utah County and to enjoy being together just us.

In other updates,  Chase has talked me into doing the Ragnar Race, a couple of triathlons and signing up for the St. George marathon.  Anyone who knows me knows that this is huge for me to agree too.  I have been spending every waking second training for these things, and am hoping that it will pay off during the races.  Chase started school and is gone a lot but that gives me the time I need to train so it hasn’t been too hard yet.

Next week Chase flies off to Indiannapolis to speak at a Flex Conference (what the nerd) and so Baxter and I will be on our own for four days.  I am a little scared to sleep at home alone, especially after last night and having Chase freak out about the noises in our house and telling me that there are zombies outside of our house.  He then proceeded to load our gun and practice his reaction time to see how fast he would be able to get to the gun if zombies were to break into our house.  Laying in bed while he was doing this, a thought crossed my mind, which led to the following pillow talk conversation..

Lindsey:  If zombies are real that means vampires are real.  And if vampires are real, then Edward is out there somewhere.

Chase:  . . . . . and? . . . . .

haha I was so tired and thought that was the funniest thing ever.  Because how could I tell me husband that if Edward were out there, that I would leave Chase to be with him?  :)   Haha just teasing.  But really…..

Anyway we are looking forward to our summer calming down a little.  Tonight, however, we are once again on our way to Logan (I swear it’s the longest drive in the world) to celebrate with my favorite friend, Ann, at her wedding.  Should be a good show.

Everyone enjoy your weekend!n17827144_35689682_4681
