Festival of Colors!

Hare Krishna!

Wow, it was the first time for both Chase & I to go to the Festival of Colors down in Spanish Fork and it definitely lived up to the things I’ve heard.  We got there about 5 minutes too late and missed the big countdown and the throwing of the colors, but we were there for the aftermath and had various people randomly throw their colored chalk on us.  It was really fun.  We walked around inside the Hindu Temple and listened to the “rock band” play their music (which was literally the lines, “Hare Krishna, Hare Rama” repeated over for like 2 hours).  We had a blast and will definitely get there early next year so we can be there for the big color cloud!  Can’t wait.  Then we grabbed some Indian food at Bombay House to top off our cultural night.  It really was so much fun.

Other than that our weekend was really great.  On Friday night, we went to Jake and Kelsey’s wedding reception.  They got married in the new Draper Temple and looked so happy.  Then we grabbed some grub at our fav, Training Table.  Afterwards we saw “I love you, Man” and it rocked.  What a funny show.

Saturday morning I woke up reals early and drove to Logan to make a session at the Temple with Natalie and Tara.  It was amazing to be there with my two besties.  We are all grown up now.  And then I ran some errands around Logan and came back down just in time for the Festival.

Busy, but great.

This past weekend was really fun.  It seems like Chase & I have been so busy this year with weddings and showers and parties and there hasn’t been a weekend that we’ve been able to just kick back and relax, but even though it’s been busy busy busy we have loved hanging out with our friends!

Friday night we went to Chris and Nicole York’s house to eat treats and watch a movie in their AMAZING theatre room.  Their clubhouse rocks.  There was a huge projector screen and the most comfy stadium seat couches ever!  We watched “Serenity” and had a blast.  Chase and I stayed later than everyone and we played a trivia game with the Yorks.  Naturally Nicole and I won.  :)   It was so fun to see them.

Saturday we threw a Murder party and had a few of Chase’s high school buddies over.  Lane, Chris, Cam, Nicole, Janae and Jessica were our suspects (guests) and it was French “ya-yacht” themed.  It was so funny to see everyone in their costumes.  Bah!  But we had some french toast (I know, I know, not very creative), crepes and trifle.  Turns out our friends can sure get a little risque!  It was probably one of the funnest murder parties we’ve thrown.

Anyway, then we ended the weekend off right with some sunday naps and the temple dedication!  Seriously so nice.  This weekend is Jake and Kelsey’s wedding so we’ll have some celebrations with them on Friday and then Saturday we’re going to the Hindu Festival in Spanish Fork….we’ve never been but it looks like so much fun!  I guess we’ll see.

Natalie’s Wedding

One of my best friends got married this past weekend and it was so beautiful.  Natalie Winn married Kevin Hawkes, her high school sweetheart, on Friday May 6.  It was so fun to be in the sealing room with her and Tara.  I love seeing my friends in the temple with me.  Anyway the sealing was good and they sealed the deal.  We took tons of pictures outside, rushed to get to the Iron Gate Grill in time for her wedding dinner and then had her reception right after that!  Talk about a long night….sheesh.  But it was really fun to see my friends and what a great reason to get together right?

Saturday Chase and I went to Al’s to get some gear for the Ragnar, which we are doing together this summer.  It will be one of my first races ever so I’m kind of nervous but I’ve been training so it should be ok.  Then we went to Firehouse to celebrate Chase’s birthday with my family.  They spoiled him rotten and gave him fly fishing gear so that he can go with the guys this summer.  He hasn’t fished much in his life, but hopefully he’ll pick it up fast and fall in love with it like my dad and brothers have.

Sunday we went to a homecoming of one of Chase’s buddies and got home at like 11:30.  We had absolutely nothing to do the rest of the day and basically spent the whole day in our PJ’s laying on our couches watching BSG.  We are lame I know.

The Friday after Chase’s birthday party, we took off to St. George for a quick weekend trip.  Naturally we can’t travel to St. George without loading up on the Wendy’s and so after we had a food stop we continued on our way.  Chase is a wicked driver and got us from my office in Orem to St. George with a pitstop in 3 1/2 hours.  Sweet!  We got to my grandparents condo around 8:30 and basically did nothing until we went to sleep.  WAIT!  We did watch Battlestar Galactica in bed which was awesome.  I love that show.  Don’t judge me :)

The next morning was Chase’s birthday and around 7 we took off to get Chase to his starting line for his 100 mile bike race.  It was FREEZING cold and I felt so bad for all the men in their little biking tights because they looked so cold.  After some pictures of the group I drove back to the condo and went for a run.  I usually only run about 2 miles when I’m in St. George because I get nervous being in an unfamiliar city (I know I’m a wimp) but this time I got a route from my mom and took off for about an hour run.  It was awesome.  It felt nice to be somewhere that was warm enough to run outside!

Later that day I went shopping with my Nana and we got some awesome necklaces, bracelets and rings at this cute little Indian Rock store that has fantastic torquoise jewelry.  We also hit up some other stores but I didn’t really find anything that was my style (for some reason I am finding it VERY hard to transition from teenage clothes to mommish looking clothes; I just can’t give up my Buckle and American Eagle yet).  I grabbed some lunch at Jimmy John’s because we all know I can’t have anything but a turkey sandwich for lunch every day, and went to pick up Chase from his ride.  They did great for the first ride of the year.

For Chase’s birthday and to celebrate the 100 miles they all accomplished, we went to Outback and had a feast.  It was pretty fun!  But since the guys were all exhausted, we just went home and fell asleep.  Sunday we woke up for church, but during testimony meeting the fire alarm went off, so we went home early.  I had to try to beat Chase’s time and I did–we got home in about 3 hours!  It was a fun getaway weekend for us.

Pictures

For some reason my computer at work won’t post any pictures with my posts and so I will put the pictures up when I get home tonight…because I have TONS.

Wow, we sure have had a busy few weeks lately.  February 28th was Chase’s big 24th birthday and since we were planning on being in St. George for it, I decided to throw him a surprise birthday party the Thursday before we left.  It was a ton of fun to see all of our friends again and just hang out.  Most people showed up at 8 and we did the whole turn-off-the-lights and scream SURPRISE when Chase walked in the door.  It was awesome…just like in the movies.  Then we had some Cheesecake, salsa and cucpakes to celebrate.

It is always fun to invite our friends over because we always mix Chase’s mission friends with his high school friends and so the room is split in half basically.  I was trying my hardest to get over my fear of jumping into random conversations with people so that I could be a good hostess, but I ended up sticking around Nicole York (Chris’s wife) because I know I can always find a good laugh around her.  She’s awesome.  It was fun to see Lane, Cam and Chris/Nicole again–it feels like it’s been SO long.  They are the best.

Also, it was fun to catch up with all of our engaged/soon-to-be-engaged friends like Jake & Kelsey, Sean & Sarah, Brady & Kellie and any other that I forgot! :)   I seem to easily forget how stressful planning a wedding is (probably because my mom did EVERYTHING for mine….thanks mommy)!  Anyway these girls are all going to make beautiful brides and I am excited to see everything come together for them.

Altogether it was an awesome night chillaxin with our friends and celebrating Chase’s birth!  HE’S SO OLD NOW!
