Some of our favorite things…
Ok, for anyone who doesn’t know me very well…I’m not a computer person and have no idea what is so great about blogging. BUT…Chase has set this website up and after about a month of putting it off/making excuses as to why I couldn’t blog, he taught me how and I thought I would see what the fuss is all about! And to be honest I think this could be kinda cool. In my eyes it gives us a reason to keep our lives exciting and to actually go out and do things that are “blog worthy”.
So for my first entry, I thought I’d share some of the things we are into these days (in no particular order):
10. Edemame: We pretty much eat it for every meal. You can buy a huge 24 pack at Costco and it comes with all the glorious sea salt you could ask for. Pop it in the microwave for 3 minutes and enjoy! It makes for a very quick (and healthy) snack and we LOVE it! Plus it saves me from going to the store all the time.
9. Bedtimes: We have two. We try to mainly stick to 10, but when we are feeling especially wild we push it to around 11. Whoa! And yes, we know it is so typical of married couples to go to bed at unnecessarily early hours. Any friend that is with us around 10-10:30 at night can attest to the sudden heavy eyes and multiple yawns that we get.
8. Our OCD: We both have extremely dominant personalities and sometimes they just can’t figure the other out. For example: I, along with ALL other girls in the world, cannot handle the toilet seat being left open! (Chase Edit: She means the lid, not the seat!) And Chase has a strange desire to have all the doors in our condo shut when we go to sleep, even the ones on the opposite side of the house. It’s been two months and he still can’t figure out how or why to shut the lid and I am the same about shutting doors. Ha!
7. Any-time cuddling: On tuesday-thursday, we both get off work at noon and although we have a million and one things to do, we always end up cuddling on our beautiful red lovechair. It’s starts out as “Linds, can we cuddle and watch just one episode of family guy?” I agree to it, and instead of just watching one episode and getting up to do things, we end up falling asleep ten minutes into the show and taking a 3 hour nap! It’s not like we are lacking sleep either (we get like 9 hours a night)! And every day when he asks, I tell myself that this time it will only be 1/2 an hour, and every day I am wrong…
6. Fake Budgeting: This is one of my favorites. We will sit down and talk about our money and all the glorious ways we are going to save. And in my mind I even make an outline of a budget to use, but we still end up spending like we did when we were single. It’s getting better though…last week, Chase passed up a once-in-a-lifetime opportuniy to purchase a miniature tree (Bonsai) on the side of the road for $50. But as for me, I’m still very much interested in spending $50 on make-up and other absolutely necessary things. Maybe it’s an allergy to frugality; maybe it’s a subconscious decision made in our minds to spend all money possible so that the option of having a baby is years away, but whatever it is…it’s working well for us.
(Chase’s List)
5. Guitar Hero Fights: We have epic battles on the guitar… battling to the great rock hits of the 80’s. It never fails to get us both into it, but no matter how hard I try to win tug-o-war battles on Rock Band, I just can’t do it! Every time I am at least half way to the top of the meter, she just decides to flip a switch and completely reverses it. It is over after that….
4. TV Shows: We need our couple time. Our couple time involves other people though. Namely Stewie, Jack Bauer, and George Lucas. I am not sure what we will do when we run out of good ol’ downloaded TV shows to watch at night!
3. Outdoors: This may be a big surprise to everyone that knows Lindsey, but we love to outdoors. We love going up some nearby canyons to camp. Although not always the ideal camping scenario (last time we went it was a rainstorm and we had no flashlights, no entrainment, and a bucket of KFC) it is always a lot of fun.
2. Car Shopping: This is a one that has taken up way to much time since I lost my poor baby – my Acura RL – in a tragic car accident. We have gone back and forth between the Nissan, VW, and Honda dealerships so often that we decide to just make a night out of it and eat at the nearby Applebee’s.
1. Being Married: To steal some from my earlier blost post: “As far as boyfriends go, Paulie Bleaker is Boss. He’s the cheese to my macaroni.” That is how I feel: that as far as wifes go, Lindsey is boss. She is the cheese to my macaroni. The two of us are trying to not be the stereotypical newly wed couple, although I think that we are failing utterly in that regard! We pretty much hang out with only ourselves, stay in our new condo admiring our very own home, tell each other endlessly that we love each other, and generally are fairly sickening to anyone that has never been in love and newly married. But hey, we are only newly weds once, and it is a great time of life. I sure am going to keep on rockin’ the newly wed phase as long as we can.
